IoT SIM Cards and what is an eSIM?

Our cellular expert Brandon Hart gives an overview of IoT SIM Cards and eSIMs (Which...surprise! It's not just hardware!)

IoT SIM Card Form Factors include:

  • Full Size (1FF)
  • Mini-SIM (2FF)
  • Micro-SIM (3FF)
  • Nano-SIM (4FF)
  • Chip SIM / eSIM (MFF2)
  • Soft SIM (Software)

The eSIM stand for Embedded Subscriber Identity Module. And related to eSIM is the eUICC, Embedded Universal Integrated Circuit Card. In the industry, both of these are seen as hardware, but they're more like the service that downloads and loads local profiles onto your SIM card.
